Tour program
Day 1: Cochin Arrival & Heritage Sightseeing
Arrive at Cochin Airport or Railway Station, meet your chauffeur, and transfer to your hotel. After freshening up, head out to explore the historic quarters of Fort Kochi. Visit the 16th-century Dutch Palace (Mattancherry) showcasing rare Ramayana murals, wander through the antique-lined lanes of Jew Town to the Paradesi Synagogue, and admire the cantilevered Chinese Fishing Nets along the harbour. Stop by St. Francis Church—India’s oldest European-built church—before winding down with a sunset stroll along the vibrant Marine Drive promenade overlooking the backwaters. Overnight stay in Cochin.
Day 2: Cochin to Athirappilly | Into the Rainforest
Enjoy breakfast, check out, and take a scenic 2.5 to 3-hour drive northeast toward Athirappilly, nestled in the forested foothills of the Western Ghats. Upon arrival, check into your rainforest resort along the Chalakudy River basin. Spend a tranquil afternoon unwinding amidst lush canopy, listening to the soothing roar of the river, and spotting hornbills and native birds from your balcony or riverside walkways. Overnight stay in Athirappilly.
Day 3: Athirappilly Waterfalls Circuit
Dedicate your morning to exploring the thunderous Athirappilly Falls—often hailed as the "Niagara of India"—walking down the shaded forest trail to witness the spray at the base of the cascade. Continue further upstream to admire the roadside Charpa Falls and the roaring rapids of Vazhachal Falls, framed by dense riparian forest. Later in the afternoon, cross the suspension bridge and wander through the landscaped riverine pathways and butterfly park at Thumboormuzhy Dam before returning to your resort for a restful evening. Overnight stay in Athirappilly.
Day 4: Athirappilly to Munnar | Scenic Mountain Drive
Check out post breakfast and embark on a picturesque 4.5-hour drive climbing toward the high-altitude hill retreat of Munnar. As you ascend, marvel at the shifting landscape as dense tropical jungles give way to cool mountain air and manicured emerald tea plantations, with en route stops at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls. Arrive in Munnar, check into your hillside resort, and spend the evening relaxing or strolling through nearby tea garden paths. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 5: Munnar Local Sightseeing & Wildlife
Begin your morning early with a drive up to Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, where rolling shola-grassland hills offer sweeping views of the Anamudi peak. Later, visit the KDHP Tea Museum to discover the legacy of colonial tea making and sample freshly brewed orthodox teas. In the afternoon, head toward Mattupetty Dam for scenic reservoir views, test your voice against the valley at Echo Point, and enjoy a quiet walk around the eucalyptus-fringed Kundala Lake. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 6: Munnar to Thekkady | Across the Cardamom Hills
Savor breakfast, check out, and take a 3.5-hour winding drive south through the scenic Cardamom Hills to Thekkady (Kumily). Check into your resort surrounded by lush flora. In the afternoon, embark on a guided walk through an aromatic spice plantation to learn how black pepper, green cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg are cultivated and processed. Spend your evening watching an authentic performance of Kathakali dance or the ancient martial art of Kalaripayattu. Overnight stay in Thekkady.
Day 7: Thekkady Wildlife Safari & Nature Trails
Rise early for a tranquil boat safari on Periyar Lake inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve, scanning the jungle shoreline for herds of wild elephants, sambar deer, wild boars, and diverse waterfowl. After the safari, spend the afternoon exploring Kumily's bustling spice markets for fresh spices and handmade chocolates, or treat yourself to a rejuvenating traditional Ayurvedic massage. Return to your resort for a peaceful overnight stay in Thekkady.
Day 8: Thekkady to Kumarakom | Vembanad Backwaters
Check out after breakfast and drive down through lush rubber and pepper estates toward the low-lying backwater shores of Kumarakom. Check into your backwater resort along the banks of Vembanad Lake. In the afternoon, take a leisurely nature trail through the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary to spot kingfishers, herons, and egrets. Conclude your day aboard a gentle sunset shikara or motorboat cruise gliding through narrow village canals, lotus ponds, and open backwaters. Overnight stay in Kumarakom.
Day 9: Kumarakom to Varkala | Coastal Cliffs & Sunset
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking the water, check out, and embark on a scenic 3.5-hour coastal drive southward to Varkala. Check into your resort set near the shoreline. Spend the afternoon swimming and relaxing on the sun-kissed sands of Papanasam Beach, believed to have sacred cleansing waters. In the evening, walk along the dramatic red laterite cliff lined with bohemian open-air cafés, handicraft stalls, and unobstructed panoramic vistas of the Arabian Sea sunset. Overnight stay in Varkala.
Day 10: Varkala to Trivandrum / Cochin & Departure
Savor your final breakfast by the sea and complete check-out formalities. Depending on your onward flight or train departure, take a comfortable transfer to Trivandrum International Airport / Railway Station (approx. 1.5 hours) or back to Cochin International Airport (approx. 4.5 hours) for your return journey home.
